First Wedding on the blog!!! Okay let’s get to it!
Had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of David and Ashley at The Smithville Inn, one of the cutest little mini-village of a venue that had everything from lodging quarters to a cute little train choo choo-ing around the grounds to a carousel of childhood dreams.
The day started in the Inn’s lodging rooms that’s a cross between an Airbnb and a hotel, taking the best aspects of both, where hair and makeup were done, sipping White Claws and the guys hanging out watching sports drinking some Bud Lite. There was a calmness in the air with an undercurrent of excitement for the day to come and the significance of it all. After the wedding party was ready we went outside to this little bridge to do first looks and wedding party portraits before walking over to the building where the ceremony would take place.
After the ceremony, we went right outside to this little area that had a garden on one side and a beautiful pond on the other to take portraits of the newlyweds, during which I tried to keep my oooo-ing and ahhhhh-ing and awww-ing to a minimum and was somewhat successful. Then a few more wedding party and family portraits later, it was party time!
Let me just say, this crowd knows how to have a good time! The wedding party had made fatheads of the couple and came in with them during their entrances at the reception. It took a lot of effort to keep my camera clicking while cracking up at this surprise. We ended the day at the carousel for some nighttime wedding party candid portraits that really showed the magic of carousels knows no age limit.
David & Ashley, it was an absolute honor and pleasure to capture all these special memories from your special day that will surely last a lifetime.
