Imagine wandering around your favorite city to take photos with your favorite person. You stop at some of your favorite spots, get some of your favorite treats, and just have a grand ol time. That’s exactly what we did for Max & Laura’s nyc engagement photos.
When it comes to NYC engagement photos, the city itself becomes a backdrop full of surprises. We started with a plan but let New York lead us where it wanted. The result? A session filled with charm, spontaneity, and moments that felt effortlessly romantic.
Starting in the West Village
Our first stop was the West Village, home to ivy-lined buildings and some of the most iconic brownstones in New York (we’ll get to those later). These quiet, tree-lined streets gave Max & Laura a timeless setting that contrasted beautifully with the energy of the city just a few blocks away. The textures, cool greenery tones, and quiet streets made every frame feel intimate.
Chic Soho Streets & Unexpected Finds
From there, we realized we were near the High Line so we made an unplanned stop. It was a nice reminder that sometimes the unplanned stops become the most memorable. Then, we headed to Soho, with its cobblestone streets and cast-iron facades. Soho always delivers that perfect mix of urban edge and modern elegance, making it one of the most popular neighborhoods for engagement photos in NYC.
But the best part about wandering the city? The unexpected finds. We stumbled across a charming flower stand that added a splash of color and playfulness to their gallery.
A Full-Circle Moment
Remember when I said we’d circle back to those West village brownstones? We knew we’d have to come back to the village to get back to the car, so after we crossed through Washington Square Park, we made sure to stop by the brownstones.
On a personal note, this shoot was special to me. I’ve known Max since our college days, back when I was just beginning my photography journey. Getting to capture him and Laura during this exciting new chapter felt like everything coming full circle. Photographing friends in love isn’t something I get to do often, but when I do, it’s incredibly special.
